You may be wondering, ‘Why Pink Elephants?’ so we thought we’d explain the meaning behind the name.
Pink is somewhat obvious, traditionally being associated with love, nurturing, care, understanding, compassion, and it’s typically associated with females.
Elephants originally came to mind because of the saying, ‘Elephants never forget’, which we thought was entirely appropriate for a group like this. We never forget our losses. We never forget our babies.
Interestingly, the more we looked into elephants and what they represent, the more relevance we found and we knew that these great creatures were the perfect symbol for what we hope to achieve. For example in a spiritual sense the elephant symbolises Wisdom, Remembrance and Patience. When it comes to Feng Shui, the elephant represents good fortune, protection, wisdom, strength and fertility.
In addition, it is believed that when a mother elephant loses her baby, the other elephants stand in a circle around her and allow her all the time she needs to grieve and mourn. They don’t hurry her along or push her to abandon the body. They gently touch her with their trunks, in a silent show of unwavering support.
And that is the essence of what we are about.
Hence the The Pink Elephants Support Network was formed!
